Speaker of Parliament on George Vasiliou: «Irreplaceable Loss»

The Speaker of Parliament, Annita Demetriou, wrote in the Book of Condolences for the former President of the Republic, George Vasiliou, that he leaves behind an «irreplaceable loss» and a «heavy political legacy».

According to Ms. Demetriou, George Vasiliou was one of the most important figures in the modern political history of Cyprus. Ms. Demetriou mentioned that George Vasiliou was distinguished for his courage, dynamism, and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as for his efforts to resolve the national problem.

The Speaker of Parliament also noted George Vasiliou's contribution to the modernization of the state, the establishment of the public university, and the accession of Cyprus to the European Union. Ms. Demetriou expressed her condolences to his family and relatives.
