Minister of Agriculture Attends EU Council in Brussels

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou, will participate in the Agriculture and Fisheries Council of the European Union in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday.
According to a statement, the agenda includes the presentation by the European Commission of proposals for the future Common Agricultural Policy after 2027, as well as issues related to trade and the EU's trade agreements with third countries.
In the fisheries sector, the new financial framework for the period 2028–2034 will be discussed, aimed at supporting the Common Fisheries Policy. An exchange of views will also take place regarding the fishing quotas for 2026 with the United Kingdom, Norway and coastal states.
On the sidelines of the Council, the Minister will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Irish Minister of Agriculture ahead of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in January 2026. Dr. Panayiotou will also have bilateral meetings with MEPs.
