K. Kombos: Turkey poses an existential threat to Cyprus

Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos stated that Turkey poses an existential threat to the Republic of Cyprus. During the presentation of his Ministry's budget to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Mr. Kombos stressed the need to address the situation.
Mr. Kombos mentioned that Turkey is now the number one exporter globally and the ninth largest exporter of weapons systems. He highlighted the dominance of Turkish companies in the drone market, holding 60% of the global market in specific categories. He also referred to the use of soft diplomacy tools through religious and educational institutions.
"We are under an existential threat," the Foreign Minister stated, emphasizing the occupation and the questioning of the existence of the Republic of Cyprus. He pointed out the efforts to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue, noting that the election of a new Turkish Cypriot leader creates new data.
Mr. Kombos underscored the effort of the Republic of Cyprus to address the situation and highlight the country's added value.
