K. Tsoukalas: Karistianou's view on abortions is 'obscurantist'

PASOK's Press Representative, Kostas Tsoukalas, described Maria Karistianou's view on abortions as 'obscurantist'. Tsoukalas' statements were made on Alpha Radio 98.9.
Mr. Tsoukalas stressed that PASOK has regulated the issue of abortions with Law 1609 of 1986, giving women the right to self-determination of their body and the possibility of terminating a pregnancy without risk.
The PASOK Press Representative emphasized that abortion is an established right of public health and individual freedom, integrated into the core of the rule of law, and clarified that rights issues are not put to a referendum.
Referring to Ms. Karistianou, Mr. Tsoukalas said that she is a recognizable citizen, and that they will wait to see her positions. He also commented that New Democracy in 1986 was the only party that voted against Law 1609.
Finally, Mr. Tsoukalas stressed that PASOK's goal is bilateral political and social expansion.
