During a session of the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees, the President of the Union of Occupied Communities of Famagusta reported that there are contracts for Turkish Cypriot properties in the names of people who would be 150 years old today. The Chairman of the Committee, Nikos Kettiros, emphasized the urgent need for a computerized system to address such phenomena.

Mr. Kettiros stated that the services acknowledged weaknesses in the legislation regarding the management of Turkish Cypriot properties, which will be corrected with amendments. Instructions were also given to audit the contracts.

The President of the Pancyprian Refugee Association, Giorgos Lysandrides, referred to the balanced budget of the Association for 2026 and called on the Government to revise the housing plans and rent subsidies.

The AKEL's bill to abolish the time limit for applying to the Central Agency for Equal Distribution of Burdens was also discussed, with positive reactions from all parties.
