Occupied Territories: "Unauthorized activities of ship on Cyprus' continental shelf"
Share on:

According to the "foreign ministry", the Norwegian-flagged ship "Ramform Hyperion" is carrying out "unauthorized activities" on the continental shelf south of Cyprus, "on a continental shelf that has equal rights with the trnc" - as the pseudo-state is referred to - in cooperation with the Turkish Petroleum Company (TPAO).

The "foreign ministry" statement mentions that the ship is carrying out work without "permission" from the pseudo-state and expresses its reaction to a NAVTEX issued by the Republic of Cyprus for the work.

It states that the ship should leave the area and that any ship carrying out work in the area must have permission from the occupying authorities. It says that the work is being done only by the "gc side" without "respecting the equality of the tc".

Finally, it makes the claim that the Republic of Cyprus, "instead of showing signs of cooperation, is prolonging the tension on the island and in the eastern Mediterranean".
