The arrival of the British warship HMS Dragon to Cyprus is delayed, according to British media reports. The ship, intended to protect the British base, is expected to set sail next week.

HMS Dragon is currently in Portsmouth, England, being supplied. Officials cite difficulties in speeding up preparations. The decision to send the ship was delayed due to the fragile geopolitical situation.

HMS Dragon was chosen due to its readiness, having been prepared for another mission after maintenance. Wildcat helicopters of the Royal Navy, equipped with Martlet missiles, will reinforce the defense in the region.

HMS Dragon (D35) is a modern air defense destroyer, a Type 45 destroyer class, designed to counter threats from drones and missiles, such as those launched by Iran and Hezbollah.

The journey from Portsmouth to Cyprus will take several days. Source: ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ
