Mobile Cameras: Parliament Considers Location Disclosure
Share on:

Parliament is today considering a bill to disclose in advance the areas where 20 mobile traffic cameras will be placed. The proposal, submitted by MP Nikos Georgiou, aims to reduce public suspicion regarding the revenue-generating nature of the cameras.

The bill stipulates that the Police will announce daily the general areas where mobile cameras will operate, except in cases of high risk. Proposals for new fines are also being examined: failure to move a vehicle after a collision, vehicles without license plates (fine increase to €500), and passengers and drivers of "pirate" taxis (€100 and €300 respectively).
