Koutsoumbas: "Drones Targeted Bases in Cyprus and Souda"

The General Secretary of the KKE (Communist Party of Greece), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, reiterated that the government has involved the country in the “imperialist war” of the US and Israel against Iran, speaking on Action 24 television.

Mr. Koutsoumbas claimed that 2 of the 4 drones directed from Iran were targeting the British base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, while the other two were targeting Souda Bay. "I think that's how it is, because there was immediately an alarm at the Souda base," he said, adding that the incident occurred on Monday morning.

According to Mr. Koutsoumbas, the decision to transfer anti-aircraft systems to Karpathos followed. He also estimated that American bases will be targeted for retaliation if the conflict escalates.

Mr. Koutsoumbas also referred to what he said earlier to parliamentary reporters regarding the drones intercepted over Cyprus.
