Cyprus: Measures to Increase Shelters

Decisions to increase the number of shelters in Cyprus are expected to be taken at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers, as stated by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, will submit a proposal to increase the number of shelters, which currently cover approximately 40-45% of the population. The proposal includes the mandatory creation of an underground shelter in every new apartment building, with basic infrastructure such as a toilet and drinking water. As an incentive, an additional building coefficient of 5%, up to 50 square meters, will be provided.
