Cyprus: Concerns About the Future After the Turkish Invasion
Share on:

Following the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Greek population of Cyprus is at risk, as Turkish troops remain on the island with military installations. The Greek population is facing persecution, while Greek Cypriot properties are being sold, creating confusion about ownership.

Despite Cyprus's accession to the European Union, the government cannot enforce the law in the occupied territories, where lawlessness prevails. Residents are experiencing injustice and violation of rights, facing their powerlessness against the Turkish military machine.

They are seeking a normal state with freedom, security, justice, and peaceful life, but these remain unfulfilled desires. The Turkification of the occupied territories continues, with thousands of settlers changing the demographic data. The spirit of subjugation has prevailed, while hope lies in joining the EU and alliances with other countries.

Cooperation with Hellenism worldwide is considered essential. One hope is that there are few pro-Turks, but they have become brazen. The concern is that children are being raised with a subjugated mentality, while the Church is trying to maintain the Greek ethos of freedom.
