Cyprus: Contributing to Stability in the Middle East

The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Klea Chatzistefanou - Papaellina, stated that Cyprus actively contributes to the stability, security, and cooperation in the Middle East region. The statement was made during the celebration of the April 1st, 1955 anniversary at the Church of Saint Lazarus in Larnaca.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Cyprus leverages its European status, excellent relations with neighboring countries, and synergies built with European and third countries.
She also referred to the historical significance of April 1st, connecting it to the struggle for freedom and the Greek identity of Cyprus, stressing the importance of maintaining national identity amidst challenges and the ongoing Turkish occupation.
Ms. Chatzistefanou – Papaellina underlined that Cyprus, despite geopolitical challenges, maintains its active role in the region, enhancing its international credibility.
