Cypriot Parties Face Citizen Discontent
Share on:

Polls indicate that traditional parties in Cyprus are facing a significant decline in popularity. This decline is attributed to citizens' disappointment with the handling of important issues such as the economic crisis and the Cyprus problem.

From 2011 to 2021, DISY lost 39,354 voters and AKEL lost 52,258. ELAM is the only parliamentary party showing an increase.

The economic crisis, party scandals, and failure to address problems such as energy insecurity have led to a lack of trust in the parties.

In a poll by «Φ», citizens stated that they want substantive proposals from the new Parliament on the economy, immigration, education, health, and cost of living.
