Cyprus Government: No Complaint Regarding Obstruction of Fugro Grauss

Government sources deny claims by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence regarding the obstruction of the research vessel FUGRO GRAUSS in the Cypriot EEZ. The vessel is conducting surveys for the laying of a fiber optic cable.

According to CNA, there has been no complaint from the involved company regarding obstruction of the surveys. This is a regional project involving countries such as Greece, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

A Navtex has been issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, valid until August 16, for geological survey research. Turkey issued an Antinavtex, reiterating its claims in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Government sources emphasize that the Republic of Cyprus is in constant communication with the ship and will take all appropriate actions in case of obstruction.
