The government of the Republic of Cyprus has strongly condemned the continued 'detention' of Greek Cypriots in the occupied territories, calling it 'abduction, hostage-taking, and a sham process.' According to a statement by the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic, Viktoras Papadopoulos, this action constitutes a violation of human rights and a contempt for international law by Turkey and the occupying regime.

The government has reported the incident to international organizations, including the UN Secretary-General, the Presidents of the EU Institutions, and others. It believes that Turkey's aim is to intimidate Greek Cypriots who visit their properties in the occupied territories or who apply to the compensation committee.

The government continues its efforts to immediately end the illegal detention of the Greek Cypriots.
