Cyprus' EU Presidency: Ukraine and Middle East on the Agenda

Cyprus has assumed the presidency of the EU Council for the second time, 14 years after its first. Key priorities include addressing the challenges arising from the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
Former Foreign Minister, EratĂł Kozákou-MarkoullĂ, noted that the EU is called upon to play a leading role in a changing global landscape. The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, presented the priorities of the presidency from Lefkara, emphasizing the need for an 'autonomous Union open to the world'.
The agenda of the Cypriot Presidency reflects the priorities set by the European Council for the period 2024-2029.
