Cyprus Issue: What remains for us to accept?

In an article, σκηνοθέτης questions what more the Greek Cypriot side needs to accept for a resolution to the Cyprus issue, given previous concessions.

The author refers to voices blaming the Greek Cypriot side for the deadlock, claiming they supposedly don't dare to take the big step towards reconciliation, and wonders what else remains to be accepted, given that the Greek Cypriot side has repeatedly accepted the framework of a Bizonal Bicommunal Federation (BBF) as a basis for negotiation since the 1970s.

He refers to the concessions that have been made, such as accepting political equality, rotating presidency, the stay of settlers, and limited rights under the zone regime. Despite these concessions, the other side has not moved from its positions.

Furthermore, he raises the issue of the Annan Plan and the withdrawal of the Turkish side from Crans Montana, where it demanded permanent guarantees and the presence of the Turkish army. He notes the refusal to publicize convergences and Turkey's promotion of a two-state solution.

The author wonders if what is being asked is the abolition of the Republic of Cyprus, the legalization of the settlement, the perpetuation of the Turkish military presence, and the undermining of the state's European functionality. He concludes with the view that a solution with justice and freedom is needed, and calls for a 'bloodless liberation'.
