Government Focuses on Mental Health and Skills in Schools

The Government is focusing on students' mental health and skills development through updated programs, as stated by the Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
The aim is a school environment that will be a place of knowledge, safety, and creation. Emphasis is placed on modernizing the curricula and reducing the content, so that the educational content keeps pace with scientific and technological developments and the needs of the labor market.
Starting this year, the Technical Gymnasium is operating on a pilot basis in Nicosia and Lemesos, with directions in Mechanical Science and Design and Construction. For 2025-2026, the gradual implementation of the social worker institution in schools with a high degree of delinquency is planned, as well as the modification of legislation for special education.
School safety remains a priority, while the autonomy of school units is being strengthened. Emphasis is also being placed on the mental health and resilience of students and teachers, as well as the preparation of a policy for gifted children.
