Letymbiotis Responds to Criticism over National Anthem at Cyprus-Greece Game

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis responded to criticism he received for his post regarding the national anthem played at the Cyprus-Greece game in Eurobasket.

The comments focused on the bi-communal nature of the country. Mr. Letymbiotis stated that the national anthem of the Republic of Cyprus is clear and not subject to dispute.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the playing of the same national anthem was a rare moment in Eurobasket, and stressed the need not to distort facts that do not allow for different interpretations, implying that some may want to change the national anthem.
