M. Lottides Responds to D. Taliadoros' Sexist Comment

The Commissioner for Administration, Maria Stylianou-Lottides, responded to a comment by the President of OELMEK, Dimitris Taliadoros, regarding the Minister of Education. Mr. Taliadoros stated on a television show that "some want to come out and say that for the first time a woman has been found to change the legislation after 50 years."
In a written statement, Ms. Lottides emphasized that "in 2025, after Gandhi, Thatcher, Meloni, after the two women at the helm of the European Union, Mr. Taliadoros came to reveal the truth that was well hidden under the festive wrapping of equality."
The Commissioner stressed that behind every insult are ideals much higher than a worry bead spinning in the fingers with male confidence. She also mentioned that the historically unequal power relations between men and women continue to exist and any overthrow of them meets resistance from 'leading interests'.
Ms. Lottides concluded that allies are needed regardless of color and party affiliation, regardless of gender, to break these interests.
