Mitsotakis: Cyprus must prove it wants the electricity interconnection

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that the Greece-Cyprus electricity interconnection will be implemented, stressing that Cyprus must prove in practice that it wants the project.

During a press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), Mr. Mitsotakis mentioned that Cyprus is the big beneficiary of the interconnection and must pay the necessary funds. He also emphasized that there are technical issues, such as the non-payment of some funds.

The Prime Minister added that Greece has other important interconnection projects, such as with Crete, the Dodecanese, the North Aegean and Egypt, which are important for Greece, while the interconnection with Cyprus is more important for Cyprus itself.
