Mitsotakis Attends Thessaloniki International Fair Amidst Internal Party Tensions

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will attend the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) aiming to address the tense climate within the New Democracy parliamentary group. Party members are requesting a meeting of the parliamentary group following reactions to the handling of the Voridis-Avgenakis case and the OPEKEPE scandal.

The dissatisfaction of the deputies is expressed through internal party criticism and concerns about potential electoral consequences. The MP for Larissa, Maximos Charakopoulos, criticized the OPEKEPE scandal and called for support measures for the middle class.

The Prime Minister seeks to utilize the TIF to ease internal party tensions and present a plan to reverse the negative climate. At the same time, the possibility of increasing the threshold for entering Parliament is being discussed, with the aim of rallying the deputies.

ND officials describe the climate as "heavy," with a rift in relations with the Karamanlis faction and difficulties in communicating with the Maximos Mansion. Some deputies are calling for an immediate meeting of the parliamentary group to raise the issues to the Prime Minister.
