N. Farantouris: Sustainable Development Only with Sustainable Society and Economy

MEP Nikolas Farantouris emphasized the importance of a sustainable society and economy for achieving a sustainable planet, during the 9th Economist Sustainability Summit.

Mr. Farantouris presented the European Parliament's report on the Sustainable Development Goals, which was adopted by the Plenary and presented at the UN in New York. According to him, Europe must lead the global effort for sustainability, given that the EU is the largest funder of the UN.

Mr. Farantouris stressed that sustainability is inextricably linked to peace and security, as well as to addressing crises, inequalities and migration flows. He also stressed that sustainability is not incompatible with competitiveness, but is a prerequisite for business success.
