The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that France is Cyprus' most important partner in the European Union. The statement was made during his meeting with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.

President Christodoulides welcomed France's active participation in discussions on the Cyprus issue and the intervention of French President Emmanuel Macron. The Cyprus issue and the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU were also discussed at the meeting.

The President mentioned that Emmanuel Macron will visit Cyprus before the end of the year and expressed his anticipation for the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement.

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed France's solidarity with Cyprus regarding the recent fires in Limassol and emphasized the importance of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU.
