New Restrictions on TC Crossings to Free Areas

Turkish Cypriots holding only a 'TRNC identity card' will no longer be able to cross into the free areas, according to Turkish Cypriot media. Crossing is permitted only to those holding a Republic of Cyprus or European Union identity card.

According to TC media, a trade union representing TC workers announced that this new practice has been implemented since August 25. Those with a birth certificate must also present the certificate and a photocopy of their father's or mother's identity card at each crossing, provided they are citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.

The trade union in the 'TRNC' has begun discussions regarding the issue.
