Nikos Tornaritis Elected Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

Nikos Tornaritis has been elected Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) at the opening of the plenary session in Strasbourg.

Mr. Tornaritis' election was unanimous, representing Cyprus for the year 2025. This is an office of institutional and political significance for Cyprus, confirming the country's role in the Council of Europe.

As Vice-President, Mr. Tornaritis will participate in the Assembly's Bureau, which sets the strategic direction and makes decisions regarding its operation. He will also support the President in managing PACE's external relations.

Additionally, he will serve as Acting President in plenary sessions and official events. The Bureau includes, among others, the PACE President, the Presidents of the political groups and PACE Committees.

The election of Mr. Tornaritis recognizes his commitment to the values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, as well as Cyprus' contribution to the institutions of the Council of Europe.
