President Christodoulides Ready for Meeting with Erhurman

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is ready to meet with the Turkish Cypriot leader without conditions, as stated by Deputy Government Spokesman, Yiannis Antoniou, in Thessaloniki.

Mr. Antoniou mentioned that the President looks forward to the arrival of Mrs. Olguin to prepare for the next informal meeting. He also emphasized the importance of unity for the liberation of the homeland from Turkish occupation.

The Deputy Spokesman highlighted the President's efforts to restart the dialogue on the Cyprus issue, based on the agreed framework and EU principles. Despite Turkey's negative stance, small but significant steps have been taken.

Mr. Antoniou also referred to the appointment of a personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General and a personal envoy of the European Commission for the Cyprus issue. Furthermore, he emphasized efforts to strengthen the country internally and externally, as well as the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
