President Christodoulides Honors Cypriot Diaspora

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, honored eight distinguished members of the Cypriot diaspora at a reception at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday.

In his speech, the President expressed his emotion and assured that he would continue the struggle for the liberation and reunification of Cyprus. He mentioned that the Turkish invasion and the ongoing occupation have marked the lives of Cypriots, including those who were forced to emigrate.

President Christodoulides emphasized the activation of the international factor and the UN Secretary-General for a new effort to resolve the Cyprus issue, with the more active involvement of the EU. He also stated that the Republic of Cyprus is a member state of the EU and will remain so even after a possible solution.

During the ceremony, Andreas Kyprianides, Nikos Tziazas, Giorgos Yakoumis, Kyriakos Akathiotis, Athina Charalambidou, Nestoras Nestoros, Andreas Savvas Dimitriou, and the late Christina Charalambous were honored for their contribution.

Earlier, the President briefed the members of the Central Diaspora Council on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue.
