Former Metropolitan of Paphos Tychikos Submits Confession of Faith

Former Metropolitan of Paphos Tychikos has submitted the Confession of Faith requested by the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus. According to orthodoxianewsagency.gr, the confession has been sent to the Ecumenical Patriarch, the Archbishop of Cyprus, and the members of the Hierarchy of the Church of Cyprus. The news is published with reservation, pending confirmation from Mr. Tychikos himself.

This move comes after the decision of the Hierarchy of the Church of Cyprus to declare Mr. Tychikos deposed and his appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarchate for restoration. In his announcement, the former Metropolitan refers to the accusation of defection and maintains that he never renounced what he promised during his ordination as Bishop.

It is reported that he proceeded to draw up and sign the Confession of Faith as a sign of obedience and to avoid scandalizing the flock, pending the final decisions after the appeal.
