Olga Gerovasili: Historic decision in the wiretapping trial

The 4th Vice-President of the Hellenic Parliament and SYRIZA MP, Olga Gerovasili, described the decision in the wiretapping trial as "historic," following the imposition of 126 years and 8 months imprisonment on individuals for violating personal data through the Predator software.
Ms. Gerovasili reminded that only Christos Spirtzis and herself had requested prosecution for espionage in their complaint, supporting this request during their examination in court. The case was forwarded to investigate the crime of espionage.
The SYRIZA MP added that there are indications of violation of state secrets, based on the data submitted by Christos Spirtzis. It is up to the Prosecutor's Office to ascertain whether state secrets were leaked from other targets of Predator, such as members of the Council of Ministers, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) and senior officers of the Armed Forces.
Ms. Gerovasili stressed that the case is also being forwarded for the offenses committed in the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on wiretapping and the moral perpetrators of perjury.
