Palmas: Turkish Army Disrespects Human Rights in Mammari

Defense Minister Vassilis Palmas stated that the Turkish army does not respect the human rights of residents in Mammari and Deneia, undermining efforts to resume talks on the Cyprus issue.
Referring to provocations against Greek Cypriot farmers, Mr. Palmas emphasized that the area is sensitive and incidents are recurring. The Republic of Cyprus, he said, has an obligation to ensure the safety of its citizens.
Regarding UNFICYP, he noted that it follows a policy of equal distances but could have a clearer position in cases of violations.
