Personal Number Issuance Extended with Digit Selection
Share on:

The deadline for issuing a Personal Number (PA) with the option to select the first two digits has been extended until November 5th. The extension aims to provide citizens with the maximum possible time to make their selection, as stipulated by relevant legislation. The third digit is alphabetical and generated automatically.

To date, 1,175,800 Personal Numbers have been issued, with 7.5% of these being issued through Citizen Service Centers (KEP) and Consular Authorities. Already, 270,140 new ID cards include the PA.

The inclusion of the Personal Number is mandatory for issuing a new ID card and must precede appointments at Police Departments. The Personal Number helps identify and correct discrepancies in citizen data among public sector registries through the myInfo application.

To date, 355,265 discrepancies in data entries and 57,919 multiple entries have been identified. Additionally, 5,576 issues have been found in citizen registry data, of which 2,714 have already been corrected.

Citizens can check the Municipality they are registered with via gov.gr, and parents can be informed about the automatic allocation of Tax Identification Numbers (AFM) to their minor children through the digital applications of AADE. PA issuance is done via pa.gov.gr or through KEP and Consular Authorities.
