PASOK's Press Representative, Kostas Tsoukalas, responded to a post by the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, regarding the renewal of the term of the Greek delegated European prosecutors.

Mr. Tsoukalas criticized Mr. Georgiadis' statements, raising questions about the renewal procedures and the public statements that have preceded them. He spoke of contradictions and issues concerning the institutional operation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) and the separation of powers.

According to Mr. Tsoukalas, Mr. Georgiadis is trying to "clean up the mess," referring to a previous post by the minister who called the decision to renew the term of the Greek European Prosecutors invalid. The PASOK representative called on Mr. Georgiadis to publish the decision that annuls the renewal of Ms. Papandreou's term.

Mr. Tsoukalas stressed that Mr. Georgiadis' public interventions question an institution of the European Union and target a prosecutorial officer. He also stressed that the EPPO is an institution established by Regulation (EU) 2017/1939, which has direct effect and primacy over national law.

Mr. Tsoukalas called on Mr. Georgiadis to refrain from statements that violate the principles of the rule of law and the separation of powers.
