PASOK: Government Respects Institutions Only When They Don't Control It

PASOK-KINAL has strongly criticized the government following statements by Deputy Minister of Justice, Giannis Bougas, regarding respect for independent authorities and the Judiciary.

In its comment, PASOK states that the government declares respect for independent authorities and the Judiciary only when they do not control it. It refers to statements by Mr. Bougas on ERTnews, where the Deputy Minister emphasized that the Greek government fully respects the institution of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).

PASOK comments that Mr. Bougas should inform the New Democracy MPs who are attacking the European Prosecutor, as well as the government spokesperson who initiated the attacks against the EPPO. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of Mr. Bougas' statement on the "mandatory suspension of party membership" of Ms. Semertzidou.

PASOK questions whether anyone at the Maximos Mansion is listening, reiterating that hypocrisy has its limits and that the government declares respect for independent authorities only when they do not control it.
