Political Reflection in Cyprus: Parties, Abstention, and the Feidias Phenomenon

In Cyprus, with a population of less than one million, there are 14 parties and movements. This phenomenon raises questions about the reasons behind the establishment of so many parties.
Many citizens have distanced themselves from public affairs and electoral processes, choosing abstention. In the European elections, 71,000 voters elected a young MEP, referring to the Feidias phenomenon, which caused concern.
Instead of addressing the causes of this phenomenon, political leaders showed disproportionate attention to Feidias's actions, leading others to self-promote. Despite the outrage, there is a need for serious political choices based on logic and integrity.
After 65 years of independence, citizens are called upon to act prudently and not be swayed by emotions.
