Sevastidis: "Parliamentary Immunity Used to Exploit Tempi Trial"

The President of the Association of Judges and Prosecutors, Christoforos Sevastidis, in a Facebook post, referred to the trial for the Tempi tragedy, which is underway in Larissa.
Mr. Sevastidis accused individuals with parliamentary immunity of exploiting the trial and "selling a show" on social media and television cameras. He also spoke of "attempted misinformation from known circles, who seek destabilization."
Regarding the courtroom in Larissa, Mr. Sevastidis stressed that its selection and configuration is the sole responsibility of the state. He also stressed the need to increase funding for the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Sevastidis also referred to the need to protect judges from insults and abuse, noting that Greece is the only country in the world where the judicial seat is unprotected against such behavior.
Finally, he called on the Ministry of Justice to take the necessary legislative measures to protect judges.
