Housing: Mitsotakis Initiatives for European Support

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced from Brussels greater flexibility in the use of EU funds to address the housing problem, expanding possibilities beyond the energy upgrade of residences.
According to the Greek delegation, the government aims to create a barrier to the housing crisis, with the issue being placed on the agenda of the European Council and remaining high on the priorities for the new European budget.
Mr. Mitsotakis intervened with the Commission for the creation of a database with effective policies from other countries, taking into account common problems such as those arising from short-term rentals.
In view of the next budget, the Greek side seeks to explore European financial instruments to address the housing problem, with initiatives to redirect EU funds already financing energy upgrade programs.
Mr. Mitsotakis stated that Europe can provide greater flexibility in the use of European programs for home repairs, without strict restrictions on energy upgrades.
