AKEL Meets with EU Special Envoy for Cyprus

The General Secretary of AKEL met with the European Union's Special Envoy for Cyprus, discussing the EU's role in resolving the Cyprus issue.

Mr. Stefanou expressed AKEL's position on resuming negotiations from where they left off in 2017, respecting convergences and the Guterres Framework. He also emphasized the need for a positive agenda that will enhance mobility and lead to breaking the deadlock.

Mr. Stefanou referred to AKEL's initiatives to strengthen relations between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, as well as informing citizens on issues related to the resolution of the Cyprus issue.

Both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and cooperation with the aim of creating a suitable environment for the resumption of substantive negotiations and achieving a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue.
