Austrian FM Meets Deputy Minister of Migration in Pournara

Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, met with the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nikolas Ioannidis, on Friday in Pournara.

The meeting took place at the First Reception Center "Pournara," where Ms. Meinl-Reisinger was briefed on measures that have reduced irregular flows and increased repatriations. She also spoke with Austrian Frontex personnel.

Mr. Ioannidis informed the Minister about the challenges Cyprus faces due to its geographical location and the occupation of northern Cyprus. Close cooperation between Cyprus and Austria in the field of migration was confirmed.

On the sidelines of the visit, Mr. Ioannidis met with Austrian journalists to discuss Cyprus' migration policy and opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
