President's Meeting with Unions on Labor Issues Scheduled

The President of the Republic has scheduled a meeting with the trade unions SEK, PEO, and DEOK for next Wednesday, February 25th at 9:30 am. Key labor issues, with an emphasis on pension reform, will be at the center of the discussion.
The unions will seek clear answers from the President regarding the government's intentions for the reform, including the 12% penalty issue. Furthermore, the employment of foreign workers will be discussed, with the unions arguing that the situation has become uncontrolled, particularly in the hotel, construction, and retail sectors.
Despite the fact that the issue of the minimum wage is considered closed, the unions may raise it again, expressing disagreements regarding the hourly rate and the amount. The extension of collective agreements and the promotion of the Ergani 2 system for better control of the labor market will also be discussed.
Meanwhile, two Technical Committees will meet tomorrow, Friday, to examine the issues of extending collective agreements and employing foreign workers. Next Tuesday, February 24th, a meeting of the Labor Advisory Body is scheduled to discuss pension reform.
