EU Military Committee Meets in Cyprus: Geopolitical Discussions

The EU Military Committee (EUMC Aways Days) discussed the current geopolitical situation at a meeting in Nicosia from April 15 to 17, 2026, within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting was attended by the Military Representatives of the member states, representatives of EU organizations and services, and the leadership of the National Guard (EF).
According to a statement by the General Staff of the National Guard (GEEF), the Minister of Defense, the leadership of GEEF, and the Chairman of the Military Committee referred to the current geopolitical situation, recent developments on a global scale, strengthening the EU's defense capabilities, and the objectives of the Cypriot Presidency to strengthen the Union's Security and Defense policy.
The Military Representatives visited EF facilities, the Ledra Street Observatory, and the Makedonitissa Military Cemetery. General Seán Clancy laid a wreath at the cemetery.
