Christodoulides Meets Greek Deputy Foreign Minister, Discusses Demographics

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr. Ioannis Michael Loverdos, at the Presidential Palace. Mr. Loverdos is in Cyprus to attend the World Conference of Cypriot Diaspora.

During the meeting, the fraternal relations between Greece and Cyprus were discussed, as well as the need for cooperation on issues such as e-governance, shipping, and education. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of the Cypriot diaspora as ambassadors of Cyprus abroad.

Mr. Loverdos conveyed the Greek Government's appreciation to President Christodoulides and stressed that Greece will always stand by Cyprus. He made special mention of the demographic problem faced by both countries, calling it a major issue.

Furthermore, Mr. Loverdos stressed that the Cyprus issue is not a bilateral dispute between Greece and Turkey, but an international issue concerning the United Nations and the European Union.

Greece will continue to support Cyprus in any way it needs, Mr. Loverdos emphasized.
