Justice Minister Meets with Security Forces Unions

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, will meet today with personnel unions of the security forces. The issue of police officers' working hours is high on the agenda.
The announcements by the Chief of Police regarding changes to the working hours have triggered a strong reaction from the unions. Mr. Fytiris stated that personnel demands should be promoted through institutional dialogue.
PASYDY and the Cyprus Police Association expressed their opposition in a statement, citing a violation of labor institutions. The Isότητα union stated that the reduction of working days violates acquired rights.
Police spokesman Vyron Vyronos stated that the Chief of Police, Themistoklis Arnaoutis, is implementing rational criteria for the better functioning of the force.
