Serres MP and Secretary of International Relations of New Democracy, Tasos Hatzivasiliou, described the sending of defense aid to the Republic of Cyprus as a "correct decision of national responsibility."

Speaking to SKAI, Mr. Hatzivasiliou stressed the need to create an anti-aircraft umbrella to protect the interests of Cyprus, which, as he said, are indirectly threatened by developments in the Middle East. He called the decision "highly symbolic and substantial."

He also referred to the visit of the Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias, and the Chief of GEETHA, Dimitris Houpis, to Cyprus, emphasizing its importance. He expressed concern about the reactions in the domestic political field regarding the support decision.

Mr. Hatzivasiliou stressed that Greece is sending a message of strong defensive deterrence and support to the Republic of Cyprus, clarifying that there is no involvement of Greece in the war operations in the Middle East.

Finally, he stressed that Cyprus, thanks to Greek defense, will have a strong anti-aircraft umbrella in case of need.
