Twenty-nine years after the murders of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou, the perpetrators remain free, protected by the occupation regime and Turkey. In 2008, the ECHR condemned Turkey for the murders, but the culprits have not been held accountable.

Tassos Isaac was murdered on August 11, 1996, during an anti-occupation demonstration, by the Grey Wolves. Solomos Solomou was murdered on August 14, 1996, when he tried to lower the Turkish flag from a flagpole in the occupied territories. According to a publication in "Fileleftheros" at the time, Rauf Denktash honored those who participated in the incidents.

Tassos Isaac's daughter, Anastasia, recently stated that she will not allow the sacrifice of her father and Solomos to be lost. Solomos' sister, Skevi, stressed that their sacrifice demands justice and freedom.
