Tempi: Political Clash Over Routsi, Kovesi, and Corruption Allegations

A heated political clash has erupted following the hunger strike of Panos Routsi, father of a victim of the Tempi train tragedy, and the statements made by European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi regarding corruption cases in Greece.
New Democracy MP Stelios Petsas stated that the government should not be involved in political disputes regarding the Tempi issue. He also referred to Ms. Kovesi's statements about the OPEKEPE scandal, stressing that she made an inadmissible intervention in the Constitution.
PASOK-KINAL MP Rania Thraskia rejected accusations that the opposition is exploiting the Tempi tragedy, arguing that the government hindered Justice. She also emphasized that Ms. Kovesi's statements reflect the majority of Greeks' views on corruption.
SYRIZA MP Giorgos Gavrilis stressed that Ms. Kovesi denounced attempts to cover up scandals and distrust towards Justice. He also referred to the amendment of Article 86 and the pressures Ms. Kovesi is facing.
