Christodoulides Speaks with Emir of Qatar

The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, had a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, expressing Cyprus' condemnation of the violation of Qatar's sovereignty.

President Christodoulides stressed that such actions constitute a serious threat to stability in the region and violate international law. He also expressed Cyprus' solidarity with Qatar and acknowledged its role in mediation efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and referred to the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by the Republic of Cyprus in 2026.
