Turkish Cypriot Democratic Party Backs Tatar for 'Elections'

The Turkish Cypriot Democratic Party (DP) announced its unanimous decision to provide 'strong support' to the candidacy of Ersin Tatar in the 'presidential elections' in October.

According to the Turkish Cypriot press, the DP considers Mr. Tatar 'worthy' of the 'presidency' because he 'decisively supports the vision of a two-state solution and is a guarantee of our national sovereignty'.

The DP states that the process expected to begin in September in New York will be decisive for the future of the Turkish Cypriot 'people', emphasizing the need for a 'decisive, visionary leader with international experience'.

The DP's announcement concludes by explaining that Tatar can protect the rights and status of their 'state'.
