Tsoukalas: "ND Left the Country in the Hands of Funds and Servicers"

PASOK's Press Representative, Kostas Tsoukalas, accused New Democracy of leaving the country "unfenced" in the hands of funds and servicers managing non-performing loans. The statements were made in the wake of the Areios Pagos (Supreme Court) decision.
Mr. Tsoukalas questioned why ND had not accepted PASOK's amendments regarding non-performing loans. He explained that, following the Areios Pagos decision, the interest rate will be calculated based on the monthly installment and not the total claim, which will benefit borrowers.
Tsoukalas called on the government to issue a circular to stop the abusive practice of the funds. He also stated that ND abolished the possibility for debtors to save their homes, resulting in private debt reaching 250 billion euros.
Regarding today's PASOK press conference, Mr. Tsoukalas clarified that the composition of the Alignment and Expansion Committee, which will lead to the party's congress, will be announced.
