Tychikos to Sue for Paphos Metropolis Seat

Former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos, has announced his intention to appeal to civil courts, seeking the return of the Metropolitan seat of Paphos, in a letter to the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus.

According to reports, Tychikos states that the seat was legally granted to him following an electoral process by the Christian congregation of Paphos. In his letter, he expresses his gratitude to the members of the Holy Synod and informs them of his decision to take legal action, seeking the restoration of his position.

The Holy Synod will convene on Thursday, January 8, and is expected to discuss the issue of Tychikos, as well as the proposal of the Archbishop of Cyprus to change the charter so that Metropolitans and Bishops are elected by the Holy Synod and the Archbishop by the people.
